## How the schedule is made

This is the circle method. The teams are numbered; in round one the first plays the last, the second plays the second-to-last, and so on. Then team one stays put, everyone else moves one place round the circle, and the pairs are read off again. After n − 1 rounds every team has met every other team exactly once. With an odd number, a blank slot is added and whoever draws it sits out that round, once each.

## Home and away, courts and times

Home and away games alternate so that each team's totals differ by at most one. Choose “twice” for a double round robin with the venues swapped in the second half. Add courts or pitches to spread each round across them; a round with more games than courts is played in waves, and the courts rotate so nobody is always on court 1. Give a start time and a game length to print a timetable.

## Questions

**How many games is that?**

n × (n − 1) ÷ 2 for a single round robin: 15 games for 6 teams, 45 for 10. A double round robin doubles it.

**Can rounds be played in a different order?**

Yes. Each round is a complete set of pairings on its own, so you can swap whole rounds around, for example to fit a team's away weekend.

**Is the schedule saved?**

The teams and options are kept in this browser's local storage. Download the CSV for a spreadsheet, or print it for the noticeboard.
